Spring interior design colour palette inspiration

If you're anything like us you love to grab a cup of tea, get under a blanket, pop some music on and spend a slightly offensive amount of time browsing Pinterest.

We regularly find ourselves making boards to remodel our bedrooms, kitchens or reading nooks. Let’s face it, we all currently have waaaay more time on our hands than usual, so we thought we would turn one of our inspired Pinterest sessions into a helpful blog post! In this post you can expect some great interior design ideas to spark some spring interior inspiration, so that you can start getting busy updating your space for the new season.

As Spring approaches, It’s the best time, if any, to think about a relaxing space. Colour is one of the most effective tools in your interior design arsenal: it can start trends, stir emotions, and can help transform a space into somewhere inspiring, calming and soothing. That's why a spring colour palette is so essential. For this blog post we created a Pinterest board (which you can see here!) with our chosen palettes, just in case you love any of the ideas you see. We also suggest you have a go a starting your own ‘spring interior design’ board too.

Colour Palette 1:

While researching the 2020 interior trends one thing becomes clear: muted soft tones and hues with green accents are all the rage!

Muted colours such as pale greys, subtle corals and pale blues are becoming increasingly popular. One of my personal favourite current colour trends are the calming muted cactus green shades.

These tones set the stage for bolder, more colourful pieces, such as pops of colour from paintings, beautiful lights or gorgeous bespoke furniture. Just like this great photo from @lindsytipa.

Working with muted core colours gives lots of flexibility with home decor. Not only do these tones create a calm and welcoming space, they also prevent clashing with more colourful items that would otherwise not work with an alternative colour scheme.

We love muted tones at Spark & Bell, as often they go perfectly with our brass metal finishes. A great example is this shot by @kathrynporterinteriors, using a beautiful but simple two tone grey and muted green, alongside our Brass finished Flexi Neck swing lamp.

Colour Palette 2:

Dark and light colour choice is always a timeless and classic style. Whether it is crisp white or cream walls with black accents, or dark walls with pops of bright colour. This palette really compliments spring decor, as any beautiful fresh flowers, plants or colour accents you add to the space instantly pop more than they normally would, proven perfectly in this shot by @carolinelevensondesign.

It’s like the blossom of the interior design world. Dark tones, especially wood finishes, are always on trend. Pairing some of our Oak sconce wall lamps works especially well with these darker palettes.

Dark palettes work really well in kitchens, office spaces and bedrooms. We love seeing dark accent walls accompanied by brass lighting fixtures to give a more indulgent feel to a room. It’s surprising how quickly a room can start to look a million dollars.
